" like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord." (1 Peter 2:2-3)
"Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger." (Psalms 8:2)
"Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” (Mark 10:15)
We gather to feed on the "the pure milk of the word", to be strengthened to the praise of God, to remind each other of the child-like faith that the Lord called us to, and to encourage each other on this challenging, fascinating and fulfilling journey of maturing in Christ and being fruitful!
We are committed to these specific practices:
1. Daily self-feeding on scripture. Find a daily scripture reading plan that suits you or make your own reading plan and follow through--read it, meditate on it, pray it back to God, apply it, and share it when opportunities arise. At our weekly meetings share your application and transformation as a result of your self-feeding.
2. Group Scripture study and meditation on:
1). Living an Immanuel life-style individually and as a people
2). Emotional and spiritual maturation on infant and child stage maturity (along the way from infant, child, adult, parent to elder stage maturity)
3). Walking in the good works God prepared for us beforehand
3. Group exercises and spiritual disciplines laid out in the Bible, eg., silence (Psalms 46:10), fasting (Matthew 6:16-18), praying ( Matthew 6:6), singing to God and to each other (Ephesians 5: 19), giving testimonies (redemptive story-telling), and apply your spiritual gifts in active service etc.
4. Sharing about yourself and your life with each other authentically.
5. Praying for each other and people/issues of concern.
Runs Wednesdays 3-4:30pm, starting January 21, tentatively to May 6 with a Chinese New Year Break (February 25), and an Israel trip break(April 8, 15 and 22) if the trip takes off as planned.
